National Veterinary Technician Week

This year marks the 20th National Veterinary Technician Week, recognized October 14 - 20, 2012. National Veterinary Technician Week is a celebration of the contributions to the health and well being of all animals made by veterinary technicians. This year's theme is: We're TECH savvy - Technicians Educators Caregivers Healers.

Technicians are a valuable and integral part of the Compassionate Care Veterinary Hospital health care team. We want our clients to know how important our technicians are in helping to keep your pet healthy or assisting with their treatment when they are ill. When you see our technicians, thank them for the great work that they do.

Our licensed technicians are professionals educated in the latest medical advances and skilled at working as vital team members to give your pets the best medical care possible. With veterinary supervision, they assist with outpatient appointments, nutritional counseling, give medications, and take radiographs (x-rays). They also administer anesthesia, assist with medical and surgical procedures, aid with physical rehabilitation therapies, and perform too many other tasks to list them all here. Without a doubt, they are critical for the proper care for your pet.

The National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) represents veterinary technicians and supports their members, state associations, specialties and student chapters. They help veterinary technicians become involved with national issues involving the veterinary profession, and foster high standards of veterinary care. NAVTA declared the first National Veterinary Technician Week in 1992.
